Farm Description:

Our farm is situated on 34 acres in the beautiful rural agricultural community of central/mid-coast Maine.
This will be our first season farming in this location and we are putting 4 acres in diversified veggies, herbs, and flowers. We have a wood-heated greenhouse for seedling starts. Most work is done by hand, but a small tractor will be incorporated for some tasks.

Our crew is made up of 4 adults ranging in age from 21 to 32 years of age. There are two dogs and a cat who live here, as well. We work very hard, but remain a relaxed atmosphere. A sense of humor is a must around here. A good attitude, initiative and self-motivation are qualities we seek in a WWOOFer.

WWOOFers should expect to do 30 hours of work per week. Our work days could potentially include weeding/hoeing, transplanting, seeding, harvesting for our 2 farmer's markets and our weekly CSA deliveries, and chores for our flock of chickens and ducks. There are plenty of rooms available in the farmhouse for sleeping, and lots of space for camping. Vegetarian meals comprised of fresh local foods will be shared together. Special diets can be easily accommodated. Pets and children will be considered on a case to case basis. If you play an instrument, bring it! We like to jam out together when we get chance.

In your free time, a whole range of activities are available, ranging from swimming, hiking, biking and exploring the large tracts of woodlands. There are several great places to shop and see within 30 minutes of here. Belfast, Waterville and Unity are a few examples of places worth checking out. Unity is the home of the Maine Organic Farmer's and Gardeners' Association (MOFGA) and the Common Ground Fair. Check out their website www.mofga.org to see the various programs and classes they offer throughout the year. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are located about 2 hours up the cost from us.

Minimum 2 week stay is required for all WWOOFers. If we find you to be a good fit for our farm, you will be welcome to stay as long as you are willing to work. Experience is not required, but a genuine interest in organic agriculture and sustainable living and the ability to keep a fast pace is. If you are interested, please send us some information about yourself. Your experience level, personal interests, and timeline would all be helpful in considering your stay. Thanks!
